Laura Hoover—2018 Review

Ahoy! Life is definitely looking different for us coming into the new year with the addition of Juniper Quincy Haines, born on November 2nd. Two kids is giving us a run for our money but we love that our little family now feels like more of a tribe. Alder is sweet, gentle, and a cautious risk taker (just like his dad). Juniper is precious and looks just like her brother.

Despite having littles, we were able to get out on a few adventures this year including an exploration of the Central Coast of Cali, a 2 week camping road trip up through the Tetons & Glacier NP, a couple multi-day rafting trips, and climbing trips in Rocky NP. Climbing Mt. Moran in the Tetons likely topped Thomas’ chart for the year.

Living on Sunset is still a dream, getting to share farm animals, backhoes, skills, life, and meals with some of the people we love most. Having good friends as neighbors and neighbors that have become our friends is the best. We also just feel like the richest people alive with the community of friends/family we get to do life with.

Thomas was blessed to have another really enjoyable summer running both Outrigger Landscaping, building decks and pergolas with two good friends, and a wilderness ministry through our church.

Real Estate Update

Though it took longer and cost more than expected, our first attempt at a “flip,” was very successful and overall very fun this year (233 3rd St if you’re curious to google the finished product). Thomas was able to employ a bunch of friends, learn all kinds of new things, and I got to try my hand at all the design elements.

We are two months underway into our newest flip at 2142 W Prospect Rd, a mid-century walk-out ranch on an acre just West of Taft. Feel free to follow “Outrigger Design & Const.” on Instagram if you’re curious to see the process!
